How would you describe A Rocket to the Blasted Moon! to a new reader?
- It's a parody on the Jules Verne type Sci-Fi books set in the 1700s
What was the inspiration behind A Rocket to the Blasted Moon?
- I loved watching films when I was kid like journey to the centre of the Earth and things similar, anything with a crazy Inventor and cravats and I was down with it.
Which authors do you admire? How have they influenced your writing style?
- Douglas Adams, rustle t Davis, Steven moffet, I think I got my narration style from Douglas Adams, I like to think I did anyway.
Can you tell us a little about the locations in your book?
- Absolutely, it's the Moon.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
- Don't expect to be a best selling author after finishing your first book, just keep writing and keep going and don't get downhearted with lack of success.
What's your writing process?
- I start with a concept and write the first chapter, I can tell if it has legs from the first chapter if it it gets a second chapter it ends up as a book.
Which character in A Rocket to the Blasted Moon has had the greatest impact on readers?
- Incestozoid, the bad guy, he was fun to write and has all the best lines.
If A Rocket to the Blasted Moon were to be adapted for TV or film, who would you see in the lead role? Who did you have in your mind’s eye when you wrote him/her?
- I think the British comedian Jason manford would be a brilliant William.
How have readers responded to A Rocket to the Blasted Moon?
- I think I got away with it, it's my only book that's suitable for all ages, usually my books contain a lot of bad language and adult theams but nobody's really even noticed it's not there.
Where next? What are you working on now?
- A bit of a vanity project for me and I'm enjoying every second of writing it, Apocalypse Blockers, takes all the characters from my books from last year and puts them all together in one story plus my favourite character from my 2019 books, Rick Toenail, it's a complete blast for me to have them interacting with eachother I hope people like it as much as I do.
