How is this book different from any other science-fiction narrative?
  • After crossing the expanse to a new planet, migrants discover a slew of other barriers to overcome. By working together, they hope to construct a working colony during the first year. That is, if none of them gets eaten!
What was your inspiration for this book?
  • I was inspired to create characters that have realistic dynamics. It will be a challenge to take a team of explorers selected from all over planet Earth and asking them to divest their individual attitudes and prejudices and work together.
Which authors do you admire? How have they influenced your writing style?
  • Obviously Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, Arthur C. Clark and Frank Herbert.
Can you tell us a little about the locations in your book?
  • As the closest star to Earth, a planet orbiting Proxima Centauri would be the logical choice for colonial expansion. I also incorporated the planet's unique qualities such as eternal day on one side and perpetual darkness on the other.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
  • Read, read, read. In order to become a proficient author, you must first be a prolific reader.
Could you talk a little about your writing process?
  • The old adage is that the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Once I produce the first three chapters of a book, there is an excellent chance I will be able to finish the whole narrative.
Which character has had the greatest impact on readers?
  • It's a toss-up between Captain Gabriel Lawson, planetary historian Raven Munoz, or Freddie Ogunjobi. Planet Equinox has a dark side and a light side and so does Freddie.
If the book were to be adapted for TV or film, who would you see in the lead role? Who did you have in your mind’s eye ?
  • If Samuel Jackson is available, I would cast him as Freddie Ogunjobi. Either him or Mahershala Ali. Penelope Cruz to play Raven Munoz. Chris Pine or Matt Damon for Captain Lawson.
How have readers responded ?
  • Five-star rating on Amazon.
Where next? What are you working on now?
  • I am working on my non-fiction debut. And maybe a children's book.

Synopsis

What sort of scar would smear across the face of history if the United States ceased to exist? Second in a thought-provoking science-fiction series, this installment takes place after a cataclysmic destruction of much of North America. Seeking to rise from the ashes, citizens of the Earth utilize new technology to send 21st-century pioneers across the universe to settle Planet Equinox in the Proxima Centauri system. In order to survive the terrors and challenges of this new world, the colonists must leave their Earth baggage behind and work together, hopefully without repeating the mistakes of the past.
