How would you describe The Forgotten God to a new reader?
  • The Forgotten God is a quest based book that is full of action. It follows the story of a young man who is chosen to complete a task for a powerful evil that wants nothing more then to destroy the planet. The catch is that he must at least try to complete the quest or be killed. He has to travel to numerous locations around the world to obtain certain items. He must face dangerous creature in order to complete his journey.
What was the inspiration behind The Forgotten God ?
  • My inspiration was to create a villain that is nearly unstoppable, completely ruthless and does not care about anyone but himself. I believe that I have done that. I also wanted to have an unexpected twist at the end.
Who is your favourite character in The Forgotten God?
  • My favourite character is Dagos. He is cruel, ruthless and will not stop until he gets what he wants.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
  • I write my draft out in a notebook before I type it up onto the computer. I find that I write better when I am not sitting in front of a computer screen.
What do you think makes a good story?
  • To have a good story you need to have a good plot. A plot that will keep the readers on the edge of their seat and wanting to keep reading on to see what happens. A good story needs to have a mixture of excitement and sadness.
What does the title mean?
  • Everybody knows of Zeus, Odin, Gaia, all of the old gods who are in mythology books. The title means that there was another god who ruled alongside them but is not mentioned in any mythology books or spoken about by ancient philosophers because they didn't want the world to know about him. Hence the title The Forgotten God.
Is writing your full-time career? Or would you like it to be?
  • Unfortunately writing is not my full time career. I currently have a full-time job. Hopefully in the future I can transition into a full-time writer.
Do you write alone or in public?
  • I write alone. I do not like people to read my work as I am writing it. I also find that if I have people around me while I am writing I can get distracted.
Where can we find you online?
  • I have a Facebook page called James Devine - Author
My books are available on Amazon, Balboa press, Barnes and Noble and multiple other book websites.
Where next? What are you working on now?
  • Next is a sequel which is currently available. It is called The Forgotten God II: Quest For Vengeance.

Every two hundred years, Dagos, a savage and evil god who desires complete control of the world, selects a champion to help him escape. Dagos has been imprisoned for fifty thousand years in Tartarus behind a door that only a human can unlock, but the key has been lost for many years.

Now, Dagos has selected twenty-nine-year-old Neville, a single man living alone and working at Kentucky Fried Chicken, to attempt the escape. If Neville succeeds, he will be granted immortality. Neville discovers that he comes from a long bloodline of great warriors through the ages, and his chances of success are great.

To decline Dagos? request is not an option. To follow the quest requires a firm and possibly deadly commitment. Neville must not only locate the key to unlock the door, but he must collect the three pieces from his sword. Each item is on a separate island. Each island is scattered around the world, and each item is protected by a savage beast. Neville wonders if the quest will be worth the reward of eternal life.
