My name is James Devine. I am the author of 3 books called Face To Face With Polyphemus, The Forgotten God and The Forgotten God II: Quest For Vengeance. I try to write everyday, it is hard sometimes as I have a full-time Job. I have a Facebook pages called James Devine - Author where i post helpful tips for young and upcoming authors.

How would you describe The Forgotten God to a new reader?
- The Forgotten God is a quest based book that is full of action. It follows the story of a young man who is chosen to complete a task for a powerful evil that wants nothing more then to destroy the planet. The catch is that he must at least try to complete the quest or be killed. He has to travel to numerous locations around the world to obtain certain items. He must face dangerous creature in order to complete his journey.
What was the inspiration behind The Forgotten God ?
- My inspiration was to create a villain that is nearly unstoppable, completely ruthless and does not care about anyone but himself. I believe that I have done that. I also wanted to have an unexpected twist at the end.
Who is your favourite character in The Forgotten God?
- My favourite character is Dagos. He is cruel, ruthless and will not stop until he gets what he wants.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
- I write my draft out in a notebook before I type it up onto the computer. I find that I write better when I am not sitting in front of a computer screen.
What do you think makes a good story?
- To have a good story you need to have a good plot. A plot that will keep the readers on the edge of their seat and wanting to keep reading on to see what happens. A good story needs to have a mixture of excitement and sadness.
What does the title mean?
- Everybody knows of Zeus, Odin, Gaia, all of the old gods who are in mythology books. The title means that there was another god who ruled alongside them but is not mentioned in any mythology books or spoken about by ancient philosophers because they didn't want the world to know about him. Hence the title The Forgotten God.
Is writing your full-time career? Or would you like it to be?
- Unfortunately writing is not my full time career. I currently have a full-time job. Hopefully in the future I can transition into a full-time writer.
Do you write alone or in public?
- I write alone. I do not like people to read my work as I am writing it. I also find that if I have people around me while I am writing I can get distracted.
