Interview with Lee Taylor
Author of CLIFTON FALLS (a zombie story - part 2)
Hi, everyone - my name is Lee Andrew Taylor, author of 4 horror-style novels & 9 movie scripts. I tend to write what I see, so my stories read like movies playing out inside my mind. I wanted to get non-readers back into reading. Most of us are watchers now, so I've combined the two. A lot of my readers have said they saw themselves inside my story as they read it, and the characters were like people they knew. It's always great to hear someone say they've visited one of my imaginary worlds.

Quick description of the book for a new reader - what should they expect?
- This story starts where part 1 ended, so expect more zombie mayhem as the police officers of Clifton Falls try to find the creatures who lurk in the darkness.
What was your inspiration for this book?
- I watched the movie - the living dead at the Manchester Morgue - back in 1980. It was the first zombie movie to scare me, so the idea stuck inside my mind growing up. My novel has similarities but it's a fresh take on the movie from 1974.
Which authors do you admire? How have they influenced your writing style?
- The only author that's possibly influenced my writing style is James Herbert. I used to read his novels growing up.
Can you tell us a little about the locations in your book?
- The same as part 1, this story is set in the town of Clifton Falls. It's not meant to represent a real town, but I know there are places with similar names.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
- If you're a writer you will write no matter what. True writers don't think about fame & fortune, they just write.
Could you talk a little about your writing process?
- Most of my ideas are from childhood memories stored inside my mind. I've jotted many ideas down, but most I don't get around to for at least 20 years. By then, the story has been completed inside my mind, so I can write it down. I've recently written a few stories that I jotted notes for in 2004. I do write fast. hahaha
Which character has had the greatest impact on readers?
- I can't name names. I'm sure every reader will have a favourite character after reading my story.
If the book were to be adapted for TV or film, who would you see in the lead role? Who did you have in your mind’s eye ?
- Jack O'Connell for me. But, there are a few lead characters in my story.
How have readers responded ?
- Very good so far. Part 2 wasn't released until July 2022, so it's still finding readers, but the people who read part 1 like it.
Where next? What are you working on now?
- I'm writing a movie script. A ghost story set at the start of the Covid Lockdown.
