Why Ultradramatic Sh*t? What's the story behind the title of this book?
  • Well, the book is about love...and when we talk about love, our emotions can get so intense...from happy, to sad, to being crazy. We can be overly dramatic. We can sometimes feel like sh*t.
What was the inspiration behind Ultradramatic Sh*t? ?
  • This book is very dear to me, not just because it's my debut eBook but because it is based on my personal experience. This is the young me who believed in the fairytale-like kind of love but ended up experiencing a not so fairytale-like love story but still with a happy ending (I guess).
Which authors do you admire? How have they influenced your writing style?
  • I admire Warsan Shire's writings so much. It's very different from my style but I hope my poems would have the same effect to my readers as Shire's works affected me. There's something very raw and authentic about Warsan's poems and it intrigues me and makes me emotional.
Can you tell us a little about how you ended up being an Author??
  • I've written poems since I was fifteen. Never really thought of being an author yet at that time. I just wanted to express my feelings and thoughts. My friends liked my poems and encouraged me to write more, which I did. I posted my poems on a certain website and it got recognized and was even featured as the "Poem Of The Week" for that site.
It felt great to be recognized but I guess the best thing about writing poems is being able to touch other people's lives. My friends felt I was writing their stories. They found a companion through it and I thought, my poems could touch many other people's lives if I make it more available to everyone. So, I gathered all my poems. Watched Youtube videos on how I can self publish it and on May 02, 2020, I gave birth to my very first "baby".
What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
  • Never stop writing. You'll never know whose lives you'll be able to touch by just reading what you've written.
What's your writing process?
  • Nothing very specific really. I don't even have a schedule for it but whenever an idea pops, I would type it in my phone's Quickmemo just so I won't forget it.
I don't really force myself write just so I can finish something. It just happens randomly but when my creativity sparks, I'd usually just stay in my room and write for days.
What's next after Ultradramatic Sh*t?
  • I have another eBook which I just published last July 02. It's about a girl named Lolita. It's still a poetry eBook but it's not a continuation to Ultradramatic Sh*t. I'm also working on my third eBook which I might release in 2021.
If Ultradramatic Sh*t were to be adapted for TV or film, who would you see in the lead role? Who did you have in your mind’s eye when you wrote him/her?
  • Hmmm...that's a very interesting question. I'd go for Amybeth McNulty. She played Anne in "Anne With an E". She's a really good actress and I think she'll do very well as an Ultradramatic Sh*t.
How have readers responded to Ultradramatic Sh*t??
  • Well, for a first eBook, I am proud to say that the reviews for this book are way too good than what I expected. They always say that "Your first eBook/book would usually suck." I'm glad that mine doesn't or are my readers just too kind? *laughs*
Any words for your readers/supporters
  • Massive THANKS for the support especially to Daisy, who gifted me a poetry book, which by the way, was one of the reasons why I got motivated me to publish my own. To Mariz, for encouraging me post my poems on a website. To Elenia, the very first person to purchase my eBook, and to Angelique, for listening with me when my poem was aired at a radio show in UK.

And to all who bought and reviewed my book...thanks for your kind words. Thank you for sharing how the book affected you. Thank you for recommending it to your friends.
Your love and support really inspires me to become better at my craft.
